This lecture on Dawah, Calling to Tawhid is based on “Tayseerul-Kareemir-Rahmaan fee tafseer Kalaamil-Mannaan,” by Shaikh ‘Abdur-Rahmaan ibn Naasir as-Sa’dee and the Fatawa by Shaykh Muhammad Saleh Ibn Uthaymeen, is delivered by Shaykh Abdur Rauf Shakir. May Allah ar-Raheem generously reward our Noble Scholars for their efforts to convey His true message of Tawheed to all, and may Allah the Almighty reward them generously as He only can, Aameen!!
Selected Tafseer From The Qur’aan Regarding Tawheed
The Aayah of the Quran: {رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فَاعْبُدْهُ وَاصْطَبِرْ لِعِبَادَتِهِ هَلْ تَعْلَمُ لَهُ سَمِيا}
Meaning: “Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, so worship Him (Alone) and be constant and patient in His worship. Do you know of any who is similar to Him? (You do not know anyone who is a namesake for Him or who resembles Him).”
Shaikh ‘Abdur-Rahmaan ibn Naasir as-Sa’dee (rahimahullaah) said: {رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ } Meaning: “The Lord of the heavens and the earth”
“So His Lordship is of the heavens and the earth; and their being in the finest and most perfect arrangement: such that there is nothing therein which has been neglected or overlooked; nothing without purpose, and nothing false or futile, is a decisive proof for His comprehensive Knowledge. So therefore do not preoccupy yourself with that. Rather
occupy yourself with what will benefit you and be useful for you, which is that you worship Him alone and do not associate any partners with Him.
The Aayah of the Quran: { وَاصْطَبِرْ لِعِبَادَتِهِ }
Meaning: “Be patient and constant upon worshipping Him alone.” Meaning: cause yourself to be patient upon that, and strive upon it; and establish it fully and completely, in accordance with your ability. Then the worshippers being occupied with the worship of Allaah will divert him from all other concerns and desires. It is just as He- the Most High- said: Meaning: “And do not extend your eyes towards the things We have given others for enjoyment, from the splendour of this world, in order to test them with it.”
Until He said: { وَأْمُرْ أَهْلَكَ بِالصَّلَاةِ وَاصْطَبِرْ عَلَيْهَا } Meaning: “And command your family with the Prayer, and be patient and steadfast upon it.” The Aayah of the Quran. { هَلْ تَعْلَمُ لَهُ سَمِيا } Meaning: “Do you know of anyone like Him?!”
Meaning: Do you know of anyone from the creation who is a namesake for Him, or who resembles or is like Him?!
This is a question with the meaning of negation, as is known by the intellect, meaning: You do not know anyone who is a namesake for Him or who resembles Him; since He is the Lord, and anyone else besides Him is under His Lordship. He is the Creator and everyone besides Him are created beings. He is the Independent One, in all aspects; and
everyone else is in total need, in every sense.
He is the One Who is Perfect and Complete, Who possesses total Perfection, in every sense; whereas everyone besides Him is deficient, having no degree of completeness except for what Allaah-the Most High- has given to him. So this is a clear and decisive proof that Allaah is the One Who truly deserves that He be singled out with worship and
servitude; and that worship of Him is true, and that the worship of anyone besides Him is false and futile. So therefore He commanded that He alone be worshipped, and that this be adhered to patiently and steadfastly; and He gave as a reason for that His being singled out with Tremendousness, and with the beautiful and perfect names.”
